This past weekend, Mersey Rowing Club was proud to see Laura and Jo representing the club at Wallingford Regatta in the Women’s Championship Double Sculls (2x).
It was a tough draw, with the duo lining up against some of the country’s fastest crews, including the likes of Leander. Undaunted, Laura and Jo rose to the challenge and put in a composed, hard-fought performance over the 2k course.

Racing at championship level gave them the chance to test themselves against world-class opposition, and they delivered a solid row that underlined both their technical strength and determination.
For the crew, the regatta provided more than just valuable race experience—it was also the perfect opportunity to sharpen up ahead of their main target, Henley Women’s Regatta later this season.
With the pace and pressure of championship racing under their belts, Laura and Jo will take confidence and valuable lessons into their final preparations.
We’re proud of the way they represented the club on such a big stage, and we look forward to cheering them on as they build towards Henley.
A special thank you to Royal Chester Rowing Club who allowed them to borrow a boat, and towed the boat down.
