Henley Royal Regatta is always a highlight of the rowing calendar – the iconic stretch of the Thames lined with boat tents, striped blazers, and a buzz of excitement.
This year, Mersey Rowing Club made its mark not on the water, but on the riverbank, soaking up the atmosphere in true Mersey style.
Dressing the Part
If there’s one thing Henley demands, it’s dressing sharp – and we didn’t disappoint.
The Mersey blazers were out in full force, making sure we stood out in the sea of stripes. It was brilliant to see so many of our members proudly sporting the club colours, swapping oars for lapels for the day.
Highlights of the Day
- Watching some of the fastest crews in the world fly down the course at Henley speed.
- Catching up with former members and rowing friends from across the country – Henley really is a reunion like no other.
- Seeing the Mersey blazers turn heads and spark conversations everywhere we went.
More Than Just a Day Out
Henley is about tradition, celebration, and community – all things we value at Mersey. Whether it was sipping Pimms on the bank, laughing over near-misses with hat etiquette in the Stewards’ Enclosure, or plotting our own future Henley ambitions, it was a day to remember.
We may not have launched a boat this time, but we certainly made our presence felt and we’re already looking forward to next year’s outing.
