Our masters squad was founded in 2024 and has already seen great success. Join this growing squad and get out on the water.

In 2025, we sent two crews to Vesta Head and Henley Masters with ambitions to return.

The squad is a small, welcoming group of mixed ability rowers ranging from 35 to over 65!

Meet the squad

Open to athletes aged 27 and above, Masters rowing is one of the fastest-growing areas of the sport, offering opportunities for all levels, from those who want to enjoy their time on the water at a steady pace to those aiming to line up against some of the best crews in the country.

At Mersey, we combine structured training with a strong sense of community, making it possible to balance rowing with work, family, and life while still chasing fitness, progression, and competition.

Want to learn to row?

Not quite ready to join the women’s squad? That’s ok! We run loads of beginner rowing courses throughout the year.

Hit your goals

Rowing is one of the few sports you can enjoy for life. As a low-impact, full-body workout, it builds strength, endurance, and flexibility without putting unnecessary strain on the joints. Every stroke combines cardiovascular training with resistance work, making it one of the most effective ways to stay fit and active at any age. Beyond the physical benefits, rowing also supports mental health.

At Mersey Rowing Club, we recognise that not every member is chasing medals. Many of our Masters rowers choose to row for wellbeing, balance, and community, with fitness and fun as their primary goals. We encourage this just as much as competition, and we’re proud to support members who use rowing as a way to stay healthy, manage stress, and build lifelong friendships on and off the water.
