About us

About Mersey Rowing Club

Mersey Rowing Club is a growing and ambitious club based in Liverpool, bringing people together through a shared passion for rowing.

Right now, we’re building something exciting: a thriving junior squad that’s introducing the next generation to the sport, alongside a developing masters squad that’s opening up opportunities for rowers of all ages and abilities.

Our crews are already making their mark on the water, with strong performances at prestigious events like the Head of the River and Women’s Henley, as well as consistent success at local and regional competitions. Each race is a step forward as we continue to establish ourselves as a force in the North West rowing scene.

We’re not just about racing, though. We’re creating a supportive and welcoming environment where athletes can grow, improve, and enjoy the sport at every level. With new coaches joining our team and more members coming through the boathouse doors, the future is looking stronger than ever.

At Mersey Rowing Club, this is only the beginning—and we’d love you to be part of the journey.

Our coaches

We’ve been investing in our coaches so that squads can have better sessions, and improve technique and fitness. We have 3 lead coaches, 1 for our junior squad, and 2 across our 3 adult squads.

Meet them!

Andy built the junior squad from the ground up, from 2 or 3 juniors to a growing squad that shows no signs of slowing down.

A teacher and PT by trade, Andy is a fantastic resource for all members of the club.

Laura is our one of adult lead coaches and became a qualified coach in August 2025. You may also find her on Instagram through her rowing profile @laurarowing 🔌

She supported the men’s 2025 HoRR campaign, and is an active HP athlete herself.

Polly is one of our adult lead coaches and became a qualified coach in August 2025. She has a large and growing network of coaches in the UK and an ever-growing list of qualifications.

She has also supported the growth of the junior squad and can often be found tinkering in the boathouse.
